A Bulk-Carrier of 16.000 tdw. with a crew of about 30 pers. This ship was brand new, I signed on at the shipyard (Lübecker Flender Werke) in
Lübeck West-Germany, the 20th of January 1960. But already after two months we (all 12 man of the deck-crew) left the ship in Hamburg for the sole reason that it was impossible to work together with the Chief-Officer.
We signed off the 22nd. of March 1960.
In those two months we did two journeys. The first: Hamburg to
Newport-News in Virginia, U.S.A. with a cargo of steel-rods of different dimensions, and in ballast to
Baton Rouge in Loisiana for a cargo of Grain, which we brought to Hamburg. The second: Again Hamburg to Newport-News with the same kind of cargo as previous and from there to
Tampa in Florida to load a cargo of Sulphurous Ore again for Hamburg.
