When I signed off the "Toscana" I went home to my parents in Herning on the peninsula Jutland on vacation while I waiting to begin at the Navigation School where I had signed myself in. I began at the school with all good intentions, but after a few months I found out that I wasn't ready yet to start getting responsibility for other people, I was still too busy trying to find out who I was and what I realy wanted and above that, my eight years of school as a child wasn't realy enough to continue with what I was doing.The result was that I drew all the money that I had, from my account, and bought my self a trainticket to Barcelona in Spain. Why Barcelona ?, because that was as far as I could go for the money that I had.
After a few weeks being kept alive by the "girls" at the waterfront, I found myself a job as A.B.Seaman on a Danish freighter where, as luck it would have, the Ch.Officer was a old fellowstudent from the trainingship "Danmark" back in 1957 -58, and that off course made it easier to get the job.
I signed on 08-05-1963, for the passage to New York, where I signed off 20 days later, without anything of interest to mention.
